The mission of the Lay Pastoral Care Team is to provide confidential Christian care giving when requested by those experiencing a life-challenging situation. The lay pastoral caregivers have been trained for a variety of personal situations in which persons are in crisis or have a particular need. This may be to persons who are

• Lonely
• Anxious or depressed
• Grieving thee event of a death, divorce, or other significant loss
• Hospitalized
• Convalescing
• Confined
• Terminally ill-
• Feeling overwhelmed by concerns
• Experiencing life-changes that necessitate adjustment in lifestyle
• Having difficulty making decisions
• Doubting
• God’s presence and love
• Wishing they had someone with whom they could confidentially share feelings/thoughts

By invitation, the lay pastoral caregivers visit, listen, accept, nurture, support, encourage, facilitate, serve, help, love. They offer resources and referrals where appropriate.

The lay pastoral care team sponsors a Fix-It Ministry, designed to help the elderly, homebound, sick or others in need who have a home maintenance or repair problem. They might include minor appliance or carpentry repair, the removal of fallen tree limbs, change of a cooling or heating filter. It also includes grocery or prescription pick-up, or a ride to the doctor.
