Welcome to Youth Ministry at Barnesville First UMC! We believe that our students were created as masterpieces in the very image of God. Our ministry strives to partner with families to create a safe environment for kids to be themselves and explore God’s role in their lives. We put people before programs, and offer a relational model of ministry. Please explore our site and our values and feel free to contact our staff personally. We would love to talk to you!

Momentum” is the youth group at Barnesville First United Methodist Church.

This youth ministry exists to create a growing community of Senior High and Middle High School students who are examples of Jesus Christ.

The goal is to reach kids exactly where they are and to let them know they matter and are loved unconditionally. At Barnesville First everyone is welcome and accepted into a spiritual family that is free of judgment and full of loving, Christian encouragement.

The teens of our community are invited to participate in programs, activities, and adventures that will foster a growing faith in Christ and a sense of connection with one another. As students are nurtured and encouraged, they are guided in personal discoveries of their gifts and talents while building up their confidence in and knowledge of God’s grace.

This youth ministry consists of multiple ministries. The primary meeting times are on Sunday evenings from 5:30-7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall of the church. The evening begins with food provided by our parent volunteers, followed by devotion time and a group activity.

6th – 12th graders are invited to study the “Faithweaver” curriculum each Sunday morning on the 3rd floor of the church.  Faithweaver focuses on sparking faith conversations at home.  Studies show that families that talk about God at least once a week are stronger and spiritually healthier.  The Bible lessons taught during Sunday mornings help to change hearts and lives.  The lessons address relevant youth issues for the teenagers to study and discuss together with other teenagers.  Each Sunday the reading draw’s from Bible passages to strengthen students’ faith in God and help them build supportive relationships.

The middle school is studying Grapple, where they will tackle tough questions about God, others and themselves.  The unit currently being studied is Three Big Questions:

1)Who do I think Jesus Is?

2)Is it all about me, me, me?

3)Got Friends?

The high school is studying a DVD curriculum 24/7.  The students will go on a cross-country journey with teens who interview Christians who are making a real impact on the world.

Recharge, Bible study, is held on Wednesday evenings on the 3rd floor of the church for grades  6th-12th.

Each Sunday morning at 9:45 youth can participate in Sunday School. The class is located on the 3rd floor of the church.  Sunday School is led by dynamic volunteers and church members who have a heart for God and youth.

Mission events include local work with our community and service at the local food bank. Mill Towne Project is involved in annual mission trips for both Senior High and Mid High students. We learn to serve others with a servant’s heart. The remainder of the year is sprinkled with secret location trips, lock-ins, summer trips, summer youth mission trip, and much more!
